Undergraduate Admission
Step 1. Choose your degree
Choose which degree (BA Music, BM Performance, or BM Music Education) you would like to pursue, from the Undergraduate Degrees page.
Step 2. Apply to UA
Then, apply to the University of Arizona. Be sure to meet the application deadlines listed at this website. The general deadlines for the Fall semester include November 1 (Early Action deadline for first-year students), April 1 (Regular Decision for first-year students), and June 1 (for transfer students).
Step 3. Apply to your major
Students applying to the BM Performance degree or the BM Music Education degree must also complete a secondary application to the School of Music (through Acceptd; see link below under your specific degree). This simple process will help you plan your audition on your principal instrument or voice. Audition information and requirements can be found at our audition page, and can be uploaded, live online, or live in-person on the UA campus. Live auditions are generally in February, so it is recommended that you apply to UA and to the School of Music prior to February 1. All BM degree applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from someone who can speak to your potential: e.g., a music teacher, band, orchestra, choir director, private instructor or non-music mentor who knows you well. In addition, all BM Music Education applicants must submit a recorded “interview“.
Students applying to the BA Music degree are not required to complete a secondary application; admission to the University of Arizona ensures your acceptance into the BA Music program. However, if you intend to take applied studio lessons on a primary instrument or voice, you will need to audition – either by submitting recording(s) to the appropriate faculty member, or by attending a live in-person audition day on campus.
