University of Arizona Choral Concerts 2024-2025

Free and open to the public; attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food

items, diapers, or pet food for the Christ Church Food Bank.

The University of Arizona Symphonic Choir, conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Schauer,
combines with choirs under the direction of Dr. Sinamar Pascua Respicio, including
Academy of Tucson High School Advanced Women’s Choir and Alumni, Tucson
Women’s Chorus and the Chancel Choir of Christ Church United Methodist. The
choirs will present a diverse and entertaining program of classical, folk and popular
music, and will conclude with a combined performance of “Crowded Table” by The
Highwaywomen.

University Singers is under the direction of Dr. M. Nicole Davis and assistant director
Clay Whittington, and Treble Glee is under the direction of Meg Palermo and

Dr. M. Nicole Davis leads the University Community Chorus in their opening concert
of the 2024-2025 season. The performance will be a musical exploration of “The
Riddle of the Sphinx” from Greek mythology and will feature the work Imaginary
Creatures by Andrea Ramsey.
Monday, Nov. 25, 7 pm Collegium Musicum and Arizona Baroque
St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church

Free and open to the public (a free will offering will be taken)

Collegium Musicum (Dr. Jeff Vanderlee, conductor) and Arizona Baroque (Olman
Alfaro Portuguez, director) team up for an evening of choral and instrumental
treasures including Marianna Martines’s opulent “Miserere” in the beautiful
sanctuary of St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church.

University of Arizona’s annual gift to the Tucson community, these performances,
presented for the first time in their new home – St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church –
feature audience sing-alongs as well as seasonal music performed by UA Symphonic
Choir, Tucson Girls Chorus, University Community Chorus, Tucson Arizona Boys
Chorus and University Singers. Get your tickets early for this popular Tucson
tradition.

University of Arizona Symphonic Choir (Elizabeth Schauer, conductor) combines
with the choirs of Tanque Verde and Agua Caliente Elementary Schools (Guillermo
Keymolent, conductor) and the Chancel Choir of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church
(Jordan M. Shomper, conductor) to present a joyful and varied choral collaboration,
featuring folk song arrangements, opera choruses, spiritual arrangements and other
popular works.

For this first-ever collaboration, The Helios Ensemble (Dr. Ben Hansen, conductor)
and Symphonic Choir (Dr. Elizabeth Schauer, conductor) will combine to perform the
majestic double-choir music of Mexican composer Antonio de Salazar and Italian
composer Raffaella Aleotti. In addition, The Helios Ensemble will present a program
of works from around the globe, and Symphonic Choir will perform James
Whitbourn’s mystical Son of God Mass for choir, organ and soprano saxophone.
