Musical Murals: An Interactive Walking Tour of Downtown Tucson

Musical Murals: An Interactive Walking Tour of Downtown Tucson 

October 17, Monday, 5:00-6:30 p.m. 

Start: Hotel Congress courtyard 

In collaboration with Meet Me at Maynards, live music and visual art will once again come together for a night of Musical Murals.

Free Admission; All participants must Check-In/Register

Pre-register for the event via phone, tablet or computer starting Thursday October 13!

Student chamber ensembles from the Fred Fox School of Music will perform along a walking route that connects the colorful walls of art in downtown Tucson. Muralists include University of Arizona alumni (Jessica Gonzales and Joe Pagac), internationally renowned El Mac, Ignacio Garcia and more. The event debuted in 2021 with over 650 friends of music and murals enjoying the movable feast of immersive art.

What To Expect! 
  1. Check in/Register via your phone, tablet or computer here or in person.
  2. Grab a route map.
  3. Choose a route: Short route (.8 miles) or Long route (1.6 miles)
  4. Join a group with a guide or take the tour on your own using a route map.
  5. Have a safe and delightful time!
  6. Grab a free raffle ticket when you get back and get your hand stamped for “MMM” discounts.

For 14 years, every Monday, Meet Me at Maynards brings our community together for a downtown walk.

“Musical Murals” is part of the Arizona Arts Signature Series, a curated set of events and experiences this fall designed to highlight the amazing work being done across the division.

49th Annual President’s Concert – Arizona Symphony Orchestra
with 2022-2023 Concerto Competition winners

The 49th Annual President’s Concert will feature the Arizona Symphony Orchestra and student soloists who won the highly competitive University of Arizona Concerto Competition. Featuring clarinetist Gloria Ines Orozco Dorado, performing the “Black Dog Concerto” by Scott McAllister; pianist Wenxin Guan, performing movements II and III of the Piano Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 25 by Felix Mendelssohn; mezzo-soprano Martina Portychova, performing “Nobles Seigneurs, salut!” from Les Huguenots by Giacomo Meyerbeer; and violinist Emmy Tisdel, performing movement I of the Violin Concerto in D major, Opus 35 by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The students are selected from each area of the Fred Fox School of Music – strings, voice, wind and percussion, and keyboard. They represent the depth of talent at the school, shining in this performance with the Arizona Symphony Orchestra. Graduate students Yudai Ueda and Fátima Corona del Toro will conduct the students’ performances. The program will also include works by Myroslav Skoryk and Alexander Borodin, under the baton of Dr. Thomas Cockrell.
