“Afterglow,” Theodore Buchholz’s upcoming album for Centaur Records, presents the vivid, virtuosic, yet forgotten cello pieces by Henry Hadley. Hadley’s aesthetic was ultra-romantic: holding to a romantic vision when other art turned increasingly modern. Thus, the program takes its title from one of the works, “Intermezzo Afterglow,” evoking the composer’s yearning for an aesthetic whose sun had already set. Join Buchholz and internationally acclaimed pianist Mishka Momen for this compelling program.
