Hugo Distler’s 1933 Choralpassion, Op. 7, tells the story of Christ’s final days in a musical language that recalls the exquisite lines of Schuütz and the masterful polyphony of J.S. Bach. Distler casts the words of the four Evangelists in his unique, 20th century harmonic palette. Join us for the rare performance of this austere, profound masterwork.
