Congratulations to DMA student Shekela Wanyama, recipient of a Medici Award in support of private lessons this summer with Maria Guinand! Studies included gesture, and also works of Alberto Grau, J.S. Bach and Osvaldo Golijov. Maestra Guinand is an internationally acclaimed Latin American music scholar, artistic director of Schola Cantorum of Venezuela, and recipient of three of the most distinguished international prizes in choral music conducting. What a wonderful opportunity!
