University of Arizona School of Music faculty member Dr. Fanya Lin is an internationally acclaimed pianist whose artistry continues to captivate audiences across the globe. Described by Musical America and The New York Times as a “striking interpreter” who delivers “committed and heartfelt” performances, Dr. Lin is recognized for her charismatic, fiery, and deeply expressive musicianship.
Most recently, Dr. Lin performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Maestro Linus Lerner and the Orquestra Sinfônica do Rio Grande do Norte at the historic Teatro Alberto Maranhão in Natal, Brazil. This international collaboration reflects both her global artistic presence and the University of Arizona School of Music’s commitment to excellence beyond borders. The project was made possible through the generous support of donors to the School of Music and the College of Fine Arts Fund for Excellence.
Earlier this season, Dr. Lin returned to Taiwan, where she performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with NewArt Symphony at the National Concert Hall in Taipei. The performance was met with strong critical and audience acclaim, further affirming her status as a truly international artist.

Dr. Lin’s career includes orchestral appearances with ensembles such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Utah Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic, and The Jackson Symphony. Her acclaimed concerto album Rhapsodic, featuring Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Maestro Theodore Kuchar and the Lublin Philharmonic, was released by Navona Records and distributed by Naxos in November 2023.
Beyond the concert stage, Dr. Lin is a passionate educator and advocate for accessibility in the arts. As Associate Professor of Practice in Piano at the University of Arizona, she teaches applied piano, chamber music, piano literature, and the Yoga for Musicians course, bringing a holistic and student-centered approach to music education. She is also an active philanthropist, collaborating with nonprofit organizations to expand access to music education and promote mental health awareness through fundraising galas and salon concerts.
