Alumni Thomas Wininger and Erin Plisco

September 10, 2020

Congratulations to Fred Fox School of Music alumni Thomas Wininger (Distinguished Graduate Student 2019) and Erin Plisco (Distinguished Graduate Student 2017) on their recent marriage! Both Wininger and Plisco graduated with the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona.

This fall, Dr. Wininger begins his tenure as Director of Choral Activities/Assistant Professor of Music at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he oversees the choral program, directs three choirs, and teaches choral conducting and choral literature. Prior to his appointment at MSU, he served as Director of Choral Activities at Thiel College in Pennsylvania.

Last summer, Dr. Plisco (Associate Director of Choral Studies at Missouri State University) served as visiting conducting faculty for the three-summer MM in choral conducting program at Simpson College (Iowa), and toured to Ireland with the MSU Chamber Choir as part of the Limerick Sings Choral Festival. She was recently appointed the SSAA Choirs Repertoire & Resource Chair for the Southwestern division of the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA), in addition to holding a similar post with the Missouri ACDA chapter. She has accepted invitations to present at both the National ACDA Conference (Dallas, Texas) and the Oxford Conducting Institute International Conducting Studies Conference (University of Oxford) in the spring of 2021. Also in the spring of 2021, Dr. Plisco will become the first woman in the school’s history to conduct the MSU President’s Concert (Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” with the MSU combined choirs and symphony orchestra).
