Join the UA Wind Ensemble as they feature Professor Brian Luce, flute, on the new wind ensemble adaptation of Mnicakmun: Sounds of Water by William Linthicum-Blackhorse. Written with the Lakota Sioux native flute in mind, this beautiful piece will take the audience on water’s journey from a single drop to roaring waterfall. The ensemble will also premiere Song of the Ancient Night by Jonathan Russell, and they will feature masterworks by Igor Stravinsky and Michael Gandolfi. It will be an evening to remember!
This is the opening concert of the Great Southwest Flute Fest, with concerts, master classes, workshops, and flute choirs throughout the day on Saturday, March 1st.
