The University of Arizona Philharmonic Orchestra is a cornerstone of the School of Music’s artistic and educational life. Bringing together music majors, minors, and dedicated members of the broader U of A community, the ensemble offers students meaningful, high-level orchestral performance experience in a collaborative environment.
The Philharmonic performs under the direction of doctoral student conductors, providing a vital training ground for emerging conductors, with mentorship and supervision by Dr. Thomas Cockrell. Through this model, the ensemble supports both musical excellence and professional development, fostering growth for performers and conductors alike.
