Sounds of History: Folk
Join us at Borderlands Brewery on April 19 from 2–6 PM for Sounds of History: Folk — a dynamic afternoon of music and storytelling paying homage to the 60th anniversary of Bob Dylan going electric at the Newport Folk Festival. From bluegrass to protest ballads, Nueva Canción to electric Dylan, this celebration explores the enduring legacy and social power of folk music. This special fundraiser for the 40th Annual Tucson Folk Festival is a collaboration between the University of Arizona Department of History, PHC, Borderlands Brewery, and TKMA. Experience live performances by RISO, El SurCo, Cadillac Mountain, and Kevin Pakulis & his Band, interwoven with powerful commentary from scholars Tyina Steptoe, Michelle Berry, Jennie Gubner, and Kevin Gosner. A $10 donation supports the Tucson Folk Festival, and $1 from every beer sold goes directly to the cause.
