In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement, UA Opera Theater presents the American première of “Rhondda Rips It Up!” by composer Elena Langer and librettist Emma Jenkin. This raucous opera was commissioned by The Welsh National Opera in 2018 to commemorate the centennial of British women winning the right to vote. It follows the true story of Margaret Haig Thomas, Viscountess Rhondda and the militant members of The Women’s Social and Political Union, more commonly known as suffragettes. This opera contains adult themes and is best for audiences over the age of 18.
