Symphonic Choir and Arizona Symphony Orchestra team up for a dynamic and varied program of works by a wide range of contemporary and historical composers. DMA student María Fátima Corona del Toro will lead the orchestra in a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s powerful Symphony No. 5, nicknamed the Reformation Symphony. Conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Schauer, the combined ensembles will present a composite mass featuring music from around the globe and from multiple faith traditions, by composers including Damien Geter, Mary Lou Williams, José Mauricio Nunes Garcia, Marianna Martines, and others. Concert guests also will have the opportunity to purchase Symphonic Choir’s newly released CD recording of their 2024 performance of Marianna Martines’s Terza Messa.
