Dr. Pamela Decker, Professor of Organ/Music Theory, will present a recital as a “2019 European Tour Program Preview” on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. in Holsclaw Hall at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music.

 

The recital program will spotlight works by J.S. Bach, Johann Gottfried Walther, Georg Muffat, Pamela Decker, Percy Whitlock, and Dan Locklair.

 

As part of the program, Dr. Decker will perform segments of her recent cycle, “The Seven Last Words and Triumph of Christ,” which was composed on commission from the American Guild of Organists (AGO) in recognition of her selection as AGO Distinguished Composer in 2018.

 

This award is a biennial honor conferred upon composers who are deemed to have made a significant contribution to contemporary literature. She joins a list of composers that includes Samuel Adler, Virgil Thomson, Ned Rorem, Dominick Argento, William Bolcom, William Albright, Libby Larsen, and Stephen Paulus.
