15th Annual Michael Moore Memorial Piano Competition – Finals

Competition, Piano Wednesday March 26, 2025 - 7:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.

Venue: Holsclaw Hall

This competition honors the memory of Michael Moore, a dedicated pianist-performer and alumnus of our school. Our undergraduate piano students will perform for generous scholarship awards. Join us for this exciting event as we celebrate the achievements of our talented young pianists. The Michael Moore Prize, a prestigious accolade with roots tracing back to 2011, evolved into a standalone competition in 2017.

Free and open to the public.

Biography:
Drew Le Febvre is a piano performance and pre-business major in his sophomore year studying under the tutelage of Dr. Linder. He enjoys performing greatly and is always eager to share his love of music at every opportunity. He has been playing piano for upwards of thirteen years and was a prizewinner in the 2024 Micheal Moore piano competition at the University of Arizona. In addition, he enjoys reading and spending time in the great outdoors.

Biography:
Meg Nakamura has been playing the piano since she can remember. While studying at Pueblo High School, she performed Boogie Woogie and Jazz at various music events and received Superior ratings at the AMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival in 2020, 2021, and 2023. In 2022, Meg organized the Nakamuras and Friends Concert at the Pueblo High School, performing anime songs, pop, classical pieces, and duets. She also participated in the Tucson Music Teachers Association in 2021 and 2022. Additionally, she served as a collaborative pianist for the Choir and traveled for field trips for the choir performances. Currently, Meg is serving as a collaborative pianist and piano instructor at the Tucson International School. She is double majoring in piano performance under the guidance of Dr. Fanya Lin and music education. She is a recipient of the Full Ride Scholarship and the Arts Seal.

Biography:
Annelise Hartman is a junior Music Education major and has been playing the piano for fifteen years. In 2022, she completed level 12 of the Arizona Study Program through the Arizona State Music Teachers Association with all superior ratings. She currently studies under Dr. Rie Tanaka, and while focused on becoming a music educator, she is also dedicated to her piano studies as both an artist and performer. She has a passion for chamber music and has recently performed the Schumann and Shostakovich piano quintets. In addition to piano, she continues to develop her talents as a violinist, singer, and composer. For Annelise, music is life-giving, and her mission is to share her love of music with her community in every way she can.

Biography:
Hannah Lee is a student at the UA Honors College studying Physiology & Medical Sciences and Piano Performance under Dr. Linder, with minors in Spanish and Korean. She began piano at the age of 4 and went on to win 1st place in several TMTA Merit Scholarship Competitions throughout her earlier years. Hannah also performed with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra twice and the Civic Orchestra of Tucson as well. For over 10 years, she has also been the piano accompanist for her church. In her free time, Hannah enjoys golfing, teaching piano, and reading.
