The University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music presents a Choral Concert featuring Recital Choir on Thursday, November 8, 2018. This free-admission concert begins at 3:10 p.m. in Room 232.
Conducted by first-year master’s student Nicky Manlove, this program is titled “La Frontera: Visions of a World Without Borders,” and takes its inspiration from Chicana feminist activist Gloria Anzaldúa’s seminal text “Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza.” By first recalling indigenous relationships to land and musical rituals, “La Frontera” moves through the contemporary reality of border violence and concludes with a vision of hope and solidarity for a world without borders.
Recognized as one of the top graduate choral studies programs in the country, students from every corner of the USA and from five continents have come to study the art of choral conducting. This program is under the direction of Dr. Miguel Ángel Felipe, director of choral activities, and Dr. Elizabeth Schauer, associate director of choral activities.
