Johnson Series Recital: Dr. Douglas Leightenheimer, organ

DOUGLAS BLAIR LEIGHTENHEIMER was appointed Director of Music/Organist for Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Palm Desert, California, in September of 2022 after serving for ten years as Director of Music/Organist for St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to his appointment in Arizona, he served for fifteen years as Director of Music/Organist for First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, North Carolina, the last three of which he also served as Music Director for the Schola Cantorum of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina. Prior to his appointment in Wilmington, he served for over twelve years as Director of Music Ministries for Venice Presbyterian Church in Venice, Florida. He is a past-dean of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, the Wilmington (NC) chapter, and the Sarasota-Manatee (FL) chapter. A native of Portsmouth, Ohio, he holds the Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance from the University of Kentucky, the Master of Music degree in church music from Westminster Choir College, and the Doctor of Music Arts degree in choral conducting from the University of Arizona.
