Ensembles in the Fred Fox School of Music serve many purposes. Students are given the opportunity to perform or sing in many different styles and genres in our numerous offerings and learn from our outstanding faculty conductors and their colleagues.

Fred Fox School of Music ensembles also provide our public the opportunity to experience some of the finest music in Southern Arizona while giving the students the chance to perform.

Many of the ensembles collaborate throughout the year in combined activities, which allows the School to expand its musical offerings to the students and public.

Undergraduate instrumentalists progress from the UA Wind Symphony and UA Philharmonic to the UA Wind Ensemble, UA Symphony Orchestra, and UA Chamber Winds. Auditions are held each fall to determine personnel and seating in all groups.

Undergraduate voice students typically begin by singing in the University Singers/Kantorei and Honor Choir, and then progress to the Symphonic Choir and for some, The Arizona Choir.

Both the UA Studio Jazz Ensemble and UA Concert Jazz Band offer students the chance to develop skills in ensemble playing, stylistic understanding, and adeptness in improvisation.

Mariachi Arizona provides students the chance to realize the rich musical heritage found here in the Southwest. This group is popular both on campus and in the community.
