Fred Fox School of Music alumna Yi-Qing Tang shares her psychology research paper, which was recently published in “Frontiers in Psychology.” Her article, titled “Music Performance Anxiety: Can Expressive Writing Intervention Help?”, is available for everyone to read and download.
Yi-Qing Tang graduated in 2019 with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance with a minor in phycology. About her research, she wrote:
“I am extremely grateful to all participants, my former students, friends, and mentors who support this project. This research, along with my degree dissertation on the topic of Liszt’s b minor sonata, was the center of my last two years of life at UA. I can’t remember how many nights I was sitting at the main library passed midnight, but still felt energized by the little progress I made at the end of that day. Anyway, my research demonstrates a quick 10-minute writing exercise can potentially make a difference in your music performance. Here is the link to read the full paper, and it’s also free to download.”
