Founded in 1951 under the leadership of Director of Choral Activities John Bloom, the University of Arizona Symphonic Choir celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2026. In honor of the occasion, members of Symphonic Choir join together with an ensemble of former members, who will come together for the weekend to enjoy music and festivities in honor of the choir’s long and auspicious history.
The program features a festive blend of music from past Symphonic Choir programs and new works, including a piece commissioned especially for this significant milestone. Both choirs will be under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Schauer, conductor of Symphonic Choir since 2004. This performance also marks her final concert at the University of Arizona.
